To become viral, a marketing campaign has to include something unique, original content. Something that has a wow factor, that is enlightening, funny or somehow worth telling my fellow citizen about.
I came across this viral ad on AdCult.com. It's brilliant and is definitely going to surf the viral wave around the web. But then we come to the point that seems to be forgotten in many great ads. That is conversion. The final goal must be to sell the product you are advertising. This ad is true to its product so I am going to remember what is being advertised, but I still doubt there will be a lot of sales generated. The concept, being excellent for a viral campaign, is simply too extreme to generate a lot of sales. It's going to be more like "hit 'n run". People hit the play button but once they have viewed the ad, they are going to be running away like crazy.
If I'm proven wrong, I would like to see the demographics of those who buy those stuffed roadkill animals.
